Boyfriend Girlfriend School is built on a counter-cultural premise: dating culture is broken, and men and women need a dedicated space to work on themselves before they can heal and build healthy relationships.
We treat self-improvement as a group activity where you can leave with new skills. Emotional maturity and social competence are learnable skills, not innate traits, and they are best developed alongside people who are doing the same work.

What We Focus On
- Emotional Intelligence: naming feelings, understanding triggers, reading social signals
- Communication: speaking and listening without blame
- Accountability: owning your behavior and its impact on others
- Community: learning alongside peers, screen free
- Practical Life Skills: finances, cooking, fitness, personal grooming, career
What’s Different
- We don’t ostracize people for their mistakes (cancel culture did not work.)
- We don’t draw political lines (black and white thinking did not work.)
- We temporarily segregate classes along gender lines so we can process our anger and become open to blind spots (entering a conversation with an agenda and preparing for a fight does not work.)
- We don’t start with text message etiquette and flirting or how partners will resolve their conflicts. We build your emotional vocabulary and create an environment where you’re safe so you can become self-critical in the ways that you need to. That comes way before any relationship advice.
How This Relates to Therapy
Therapy is a deeply personal practice and tool that many people find effective. Your therapist, by the way, is going to love us! Even though therapy can be very beneficial, it often leaves big gaps in an individual’s education. That’s where our school come in. Our courses provide a built-in accountability to your classmates that one-on-one therapy typically does not provide on its own.
Therapists are usually trained to process your experience, not to judge your choices or tell you what to do. Sometimes, however, you need someone who can tell it to you straight. Courses at Boyfriend Girlfriend School complement the other internal work you are already doing.
Our courses have a start date, an end date, and lessons you’ll walk away with. When you finish your track, you move on with the ability to apply what you’ve learned.
Your classmates help you heal: by witnessing, by relating, by sharing. Everyone in the room has a piece of the puzzle. We don’t compete, we complement.
